Responsibilities

  • Define SLA, SLO, and SLI requirements and agreements for products, platforms, and services.
  • Design and implement resilient solutions throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Design and implement observability solutions to measure and report SLA adherence.
  • Automate manual operational effort through management processes, services, and CI/CD improvements.
  • Optimize infrastructure and operations costs through FinOps practices.
  • Design enterprise SRE roadmaps, assess organizational SRE maturity, and implement SRE solutions across business lines.
  • Troubleshoot and tune application performance, scalability, and availability, including analysis of thread dumps and heap dumps.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience with software product engineering principles, processes, and systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Java/J2EE, a web server such as Apache Tomcat or IBM HTTP Server, an application server such as Tomcat or WebSphere, and a major relational database such as Oracle.
  • Experience with at least one CI/CD tool and infrastructure-as-code tool, including Azure DevOps, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or Ansible.
  • Experience with cloud, container, and orchestration technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, Pivotal, Kubernetes, or OpenShift, plus related reliability tools.
  • Experience with observability and APM tools such as Dynatrace or AppDynamics, log and metric consolidation with Splunk, and the ELK Stack.
  • Experience monitoring Linux/RHEL performance and interpreting monitoring parameters and commands.
  • Experience with web services, SOA, ESB/DataPower, and RESTful systems.
  • Knowledge of non-functional requirements, queuing models, thread pools, request servicing, application design patterns, J2EE architectures, microservices, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Proficiency in Java runtimes, Core Java, garbage collection, JVM parameter tuning, application-server performance tuning, query tuning, and database architecture.
  • Knowledge of at least one automation scripting language such as Python.
  • Mastery of collaborative software development using Git, Jira, and Confluence.
  • AI/ML and data analytics knowledge and experience are desirable.
