Responsibilities
- Implement new ingestion sources end-to-end, including connector code, Airflow DAGs, schemas, monitoring, and catalog registration.
- Investigate and resolve known classes of pipeline failures independently, escalating novel issues with clear technical handovers.
- Assess downstream consumers and data-quality risks before shipping new pipelines.
- Review peer pipeline pull requests and identify issues such as missing idempotency checks and race conditions.
- Trace data lineage from source to warehouse to investigate incorrect data and communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Support data security and governance work, including PII masking, access controls, and reverse ETL integrations.
- Clarify requirements with internal stakeholders and contribute to specification reviews.
- Mentor DE2 engineers on significant projects and help them apply team conventions.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of professional software or data engineering experience.
- Strong SQL and Python skills with experience building and operating production data pipelines.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow and cloud data warehouses or lakehouses such as Snowflake or Databricks.
- Understanding of idempotency, schema evolution, backfills, data quality, and testing.
- Ability to investigate pipeline issues, provide substantive code review feedback, and own known-class problems end-to-end.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical handovers, specification reviews, data lineage investigations, and stakeholder communication.
- Preferred experience extending reusable pipeline frameworks or templates, using reverse ETL patterns, PII masking, data access governance, or observability tools such as Datadog.
- Some mentoring experience and background in gaming, betting, e-commerce, or regulated industries are preferred.
