Base Salary

$180k - $245k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the Waypoint Figma library, including component structure, variants, properties, tokens, and documentation.
  • Build and maintain core Waypoint components and component packages in the production codebase.
  • Keep design tokens in Figma synchronized with CSS custom properties and Tailwind configuration.
  • Partner with product designers and product engineers to translate patterns into usable system components.
  • Develop workflows and tooling such as sync scripts, plugins, and documentation sites that connect Figma and code.
  • Write documentation and usage guidance for design-system consumers.
  • Make architecture, component reuse, versioning, and packaging decisions as Waypoint scales.
  • Help define how design-system components, tokens, and patterns can be structured for AI systems.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated fluency in both Figma-based design-system work and production component engineering.
  • Experience with component structures, variants, properties, design tokens, documentation, and reusable component packages.
  • Experience collaborating with product designers and engineers to make system components easy to adopt.
  • Nice-to-have experience with design-to-code synchronization tooling, including Figma plugins, token pipelines, MCP-based workflows, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility standards and incorporating accessibility into components.
  • Experience packaging and versioning component libraries for multiple teams, including npm scoped packages, semver, and changelogs.
  • Exposure to iOS/SwiftUI, Android/Jetpack Compose, or token build tools such as Style Dictionary.
  • Experience in an AI-native product environment or genuine interest in AI’s impact on design systems.
