Base Salary
$147k - $205k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead SQL Server database performance tuning and optimization.
- Resolve query bottlenecks, slow queries, blocking, deadlocks, and production performance issues.
- Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, batch-processing jobs, execution plans, and indexing strategies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot I/O, memory, and CPU bottlenecks using SQL Server tools such as SQL Profiler.
- Collaborate with application development teams, business partners, infrastructure groups, Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, and Quality Engineering.
- Gather, analyze, and document data and performance requirements.
- Coordinate testing and implementation of database changes according to bank policies and standards.
- Organize technical workstreams and communicate status, risks, and dependencies using JIRA and Confluence.
- Provide guidance to junior developers or database team members.
- Participate in production support and critical issue resolution.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of hands-on SQL Server database development and performance-tuning experience.
- Deep expertise in query optimization, execution plan analysis, index design and tuning, and stored procedure optimization.
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server internals, including locking, blocking, deadlocks, TempDB usage, and indexing strategies.
- Experience troubleshooting database performance issues in production environments and working with large datasets and high-throughput batch-processing systems.
- Familiarity with at least one programming language, such as C#, .NET, Java, or Python, for integration purposes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, critical-thinking, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
- Preferred: experience supporting loan systems, corporate and investment banking or capital markets platforms, Agile development environments, enterprise architecture, production support, financial-services security controls, and mentoring junior team members.
