Base Salary
$174k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain monitoring, alerting, logging, and tracing solutions across platforms, applications, and infrastructure
- Collaborate with software engineers, SREs, and infrastructure teams to define observability requirements
- Develop best practices for monitoring, alerting, and telemetry systems
- Evaluate and recommend observability tools and technologies
- Define and track KPIs and SLOs for availability, performance, and reliability
- Analyze observability data to assist with complex incident and problem resolution
- Mentor engineers on observability principles, practices, and tools
- Evaluate and optimize observability systems and standardize observability processes, tools, and frameworks
- Create training materials, documentation, and runbooks for observability systems and practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a closely related field
- At least eight years of experience working on engineering teams that build large-scale distributed systems
- Strong experience implementing and managing observability solutions in large-scale, complex environments
- Deep knowledge of monitoring, alerting, and logging systems including OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic stacks
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is preferred
- Familiarity with Dynatrace or AppDynamics is preferred
- Proficiency in at least one of Go, Java, Python, or Ruby is preferred
- Familiarity with Jaeger or Zipkin is preferred
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform is preferred
- Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and infrastructure as code is preferred
- Professional certifications in cloud platforms, monitoring tools, or related technologies are preferred
- Proven record of leading and delivering successful observability projects and initiatives
