Responsibilities
- Design and build payment platform capabilities including orchestration, risk and fraud, and multi-provider integrations.
- Develop a global bill payment product and core high-throughput platform services.
- Make foundational architectural decisions and deliver reliable, scalable, performant, and secure systems.
- Contribute directly to production code, proof-of-concepts, and technical deep dives.
- Set technical direction, mentor engineers, and foster an inclusive engineering culture.
- Partner with Product, Design, Security, Risk, Operations, and other teams to translate business needs into resilient engineering solutions.
- Champion advanced AI tools and practices to accelerate engineering productivity and developer workflows.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering highly available, distributed backend systems and designing high-throughput services under real-world constraints.
- Deep understanding of system architecture, API design, and SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Proficiency with modern backend technologies such as C#, Java, Golang, or C++, and cloud-native platforms such as AWS.
- Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Passion for remaining hands-on with production engineering, proof-of-concepts, and technical deep dives.
- Ability to break down complex problems into actionable solutions and drive execution.

- Base salary range of $186,000-$236,000 CAD, with potential variable pay, commissions, or equity based on role and performance.
