Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable geospatial system architectures aligned with DHS standards.
  • Conduct gap analysis and identify technical and functional requirements.
  • Research and recommend emerging geospatial technologies.
  • Lead systems integration and architecture design across cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Manage geospatial data infrastructure including geodatabases and cloud repositories.
  • Support operation, maintenance, and performance optimization of GIS applications.
  • Develop and execute testing plans to validate system performance.
  • Create and update architectural documentation and technical guides.
  • Ensure compliance with federal IT policies and security standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align architecture with organizational goals.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Geospatial Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Systems Architect supporting geospatial systems in government or enterprise environments.
  • Strong expertise in systems engineering, architecture design, and GIS technologies, especially Esri products.
  • Experience with cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or GovCloud.
  • Proficient in database design and management, including geodatabases.
  • Knowledge of federal IT security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and manage multiple priorities.
