Base Salary
$221k - $349k/yr
Responsibilities
- Evolve the graph-based execution architecture that compiles, plans, and runs user notebooks, including building new compute components.
- Design parallel execution and caching strategies that reduce latency and unnecessary round trips to external data warehouses.
- Instrument complex systems to identify and diagnose performance problems.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams on platform capabilities such as an internal query language compiling to connected warehouse dialects.
- Author and review technical proposals, mentor engineers, and guide implementation of ambitious designs.
- Propose and roadmap long-term technical designs with clear quarterly milestones.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience focused on computation, performance, database or storage optimization, and systems architecture.
- Experience with parallel execution, caching, remote data warehouse computation, storage, database performance, algorithms, and data structures.
- Track record solving difficult large-scale systems design problems involving significant data and operational complexity.
- Ability to develop technical solutions from ambiguous problems and roadmap designs across multiple quarters.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including leading technical work on a remote-first team.
- Python and/or TypeScript experience is required; experience with both is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure is nice to have.
- Some frontend experience and willingness to occasionally implement features end to end is a plus.
