Base Salary
$180k - $270k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own ambiguous problems end to end from design and implementation through deployment and operation.
- Design scalable services, interfaces, and data pipelines for high-volume workloads and complex datasets.
- Build and maintain frontend and backend systems, with the heaviest emphasis on backend engineering.
- Build, evaluate, and productionize LLM- and agent-driven capabilities with a focus on accuracy and reliability.
- Partner with product, design, and customer-facing teams to turn user needs into technical solutions.
- Review code, mentor engineers, and improve shared tools and engineering practices.
- At the Staff level, lead complex cross-team technical work and set technical direction for a broader area.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience shipping and operating production systems.
- Strong full-stack software engineering fundamentals with deeper experience in backend services, APIs, data, infrastructure, or systems.
- Experience building with LLMs or agentic systems, including RAG, tool use, or multi-agent orchestration.
- Experience evaluating AI systems and using AI coding tools daily.
- Ability to independently drive work end to end, make product tradeoffs, and collaborate with product, design, and customers.
- Clear written and in-person communication.
- Staff candidates should have a track record of leading complex, cross-team technical work.
- Experience at startups and larger companies, mentoring engineers or leading teams, and working with cloud platforms are preferred.

- The role is open at both Senior and Staff levels, with final level and compensation determined during the interview process.
- Annual base salary ranges from $190,000 to $240,000 for Senior engineers in San Francisco, $180,000 to $230,000 in Seattle, $230,000 to $270,000 for Staff engineers in San Francisco, and $220,000 to $250,000 in Seattle.
