Responsibilities
- Develop, test, maintain, and support custom software, data pipelines, and distributed cloud systems.
- Increase data coverage, adoption, literacy, and trust through Data Governance and Master Data Management initiatives.
- Build data pipelines that extract and transform data into governed assets for the Data Platform.
- Contribute to the vision and roadmap for self-service Data Platform capabilities.
- Prepare technical design specifications and implement solutions based on functional requirements.
- Identify system issues and common patterns, develop standard operating procedures, and improve system quality.
- Maintain existing codebases, review code changes, and participate in architecture and code reviews.
- Investigate and apply relevant technologies and provide written knowledge-transfer materials.
- Assist customer support with technical problems and questions.
- Lead or participate in projects, mentor less experienced developers, and make independent technical decisions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience is required.
- Six or more years of extensive experience developing mission-critical and low-latency solutions.
- At least 3 years of experience developing and debugging distributed systems and cloud data pipelines.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; a master's degree is a plus.
- Extensive experience with Snowflake, AWS Athena, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Solid experience with DBT and AWS and/or Azure CI/CD DevOps technologies.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL, data curation, big-data performance tuning, and extensive debugging.
- Experience with AWS DynamoDB, Azure Cosmos, Fivetran, Monte Carlo, Pulsar, Atlan, or Power BI is advantageous as specified in the posting.
- Understanding of unit testing, test-driven development, functional testing, and performance testing.
- Knowledge of at least one shell scripting language.
- Experience leading work and mentoring developers is a plus.
- Strong communication, organizational, presentation, facilitation, customer-focus, and independent decision-making skills.
