Base Salary
$180k - $245k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own hardware/software bring-up of AMS and sensor ICs on customer-selected MCU and SoC platforms.
- Develop driver-level firmware in C/C++ with I2C, SPI, UART, GPIO, interrupt handling, and register-level configuration.
- Build application-layer demonstrations for position sensing, impedance sensing, power sequencing, and force/torque sensing use cases.
- Lead technical integration for flagship joint development programs with strategic partners.
- Debug issues across analog front ends, digital buses, and host software stacks in customer laboratories.
- Partner with FAEs, product marketing, business development, and customer engineering teams to define proof-of-concept requirements and milestones.
- Create reusable driver frameworks, reference architectures, architecture documentation, register maps, and bring-up guides.
- Represent Renesas technically during customer lab visits and demonstrations.
- Mentor engineers and act as the escalation point for complex customer integrations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 10+ years of embedded firmware/software development experience spanning multiple silicon vendors and MCU/SoC ecosystems for the Staff level.
- Demonstrable C/C++ expertise at both driver and application levels.
- Experience bringing up analog/mixed-signal ICs and sensors on third-party platforms from datasheets and schematics.
- Deep command of I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet-based interfaces.
- Experience developing in bare-metal and RTOS environments.
- Ability to work with incomplete documentation, changing customer requirements, and external deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% for customer lab visits and trade shows.
- Preferred: Master's degree in a related engineering field.
- Preferred: robotics, industrial sensing, edge AI compute platform, configurable mixed-signal/state-machine analog design, or customer-facing FAE, solutions architect, or applications engineering experience.
- Preferred: Python for test automation, data logging, or tooling and experience mentoring junior or mid-level engineers.
