Responsibilities
- Write clean, maintainable backend code in Java or Python.
- Upgrade application frameworks to address security patches, support, and performance improvements.
- Debug and resolve system errors identified through automated or manual testing.
- Monitor production systems, improve observability, and proactively resolve issues.
- Lead root-cause analyses for outages and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct performance and scalability testing, identify bottlenecks, and optimize systems.
- Partner with business and operations users to troubleshoot, document, and resolve issues.
- Execute and automate data queries, AWS resource modifications, and job restarts.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to high-priority production incidents.
- Enhance GitHub Actions and infrastructure-as-code workflows.
- Maintain runbooks, knowledge bases, and technical documentation while driving process automation and tooling improvements.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of software development experience, ideally with Java or Python backend development.
- Experience with relational databases including Oracle and PostgreSQL, plus SQL query writing.
- Strong communication skills for bridging technical and non-technical discussions.
- Ability to collaborate with distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Preferred experience with enterprise systems and modernization efforts.
- Preferred hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience for managing cloud resources, ideally in AWS.
- Preferred ability to diagnose and resolve issues across desktop, network, and web layers.
- Preferred experience with on-call work, incident management, and meeting SLA commitments.
