Base Salary

$95k - $130k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, maintain, and architect embedded software and firmware for test-and-measurement products.
  • Define interfaces and communication protocols across software and hardware components, including optimization for multicore CPUs, GPUs, DSPs, FPGAs, and memory.
  • Develop secure software, security mechanisms, vulnerability assessments, and security testing in collaboration with cybersecurity stakeholders.
  • Implement automated testing, diagnostic tools, code reviews, quality-debt reduction, and continuous-integration activities.
  • Support product transfer to production by developing tools for electronics assembly verification and product calibration.
  • Participate in backlog development, sprint planning and reviews, Scrum meetings, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to less experienced software designers and resolve cross-functional technical issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Five years of experience in embedded software design.
  • Advanced experience with microcontrollers and access libraries.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ and ability to work in Windows or Linux environments.
  • Python programming experience is an asset.
  • Experience with optimization techniques including speed, memory usage, and multithreading.
  • Knowledge of decentralized version-control tools such as Git or Mercurial and experience with design patterns.
  • Secure development lifecycle experience is preferred.
  • Fluency in linear algebra and trigonometry.
  • UML schematic-representation experience is an asset.
  • Significant contribution to commercially successful products and knowledge of test-and-measurement applications.
  • Intermediate English proficiency and the ability to work effectively in multifunctional teams.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, autonomy, initiative, leadership, rigor, and constructive communication.

  • Base salary is supplemented by a 10% annual bonus target.
  • Health, welfare, and retirement benefits are available, with other benefits potentially including an annual bonus if eligible.
  • The position is based onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts.
  • The role may be located at export-control-restricted sites or require access to export-controlled information, requiring valid proof of U.S. Person status.
