Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end solution architecture across card issuance, account management, authorization, clearing and settlement, disputes, fraud, rewards, servicing, and card lifecycle processes.
- Architect solutions using issuer processing, switching, fraud decisioning, digital wallet, tokenization, analytics, data streaming, and digital banking platforms.
- Design cloud-native and hybrid payment architectures with resilience, scalability, disaster recovery, security, and data residency requirements.
- Translate card scheme mandates, regulatory changes, PCI-DSS requirements, EMV standards, and payment security obligations into architecture and system requirements.
- Lead or support scheme, embossing, personalization, and vendor certification processes.
- Define API, integration, event-driven, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and site reliability architecture standards.
- Develop strategic architecture blueprints, technology roadmaps, modernization plans, build-versus-buy assessments, and cost optimization recommendations.
- Support RFP and RFI responses, presales solutioning, technical proposals, costing inputs, and client pitches.
- Present architecture solutions and business cases to clients, executives, board members, and other stakeholders.
- Mentor solution architects and engineering teams and manage technical relationships with vendors, payment schemes, fraud providers, and personalization partners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
- At least 10 years of experience in payments or cards technology, including at least five years in solution or enterprise architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Way4, Base24, Card Control, and fraud platforms such as FICO Falcon is strongly preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud architecture and migration projects.
- Strong understanding of Visa and Mastercard scheme rules, EMV, PCI-DSS, and card personalization and embossing processes.
- Experience with scheme and vendor certification processes, RFP responses, client-facing presales, and senior or board-level presentations.
- TOGAF 9+ or an equivalent enterprise architecture certification is required or must be in progress.
- Knowledge of ISO 8583, ISO 20022, API gateways, microservices, event-driven architecture, HSMs, key management, digital wallets, tokenization, and payment security.
- Experience with fraud and decisioning platforms, AI-based fraud detection, analytics and BI dashboards, real-time data streaming, AML/KYC, data residency, and regulatory requirements is preferred.
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tooling, site reliability practices, real-time payments, open banking, BNPL, embedded finance, and digital currencies is preferred.
- Strong strategic thinking, solution design, stakeholder management, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
