Base Salary
$140k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own reliability for Tier 1 customer journeys by defining SLOs, golden signals, business-level monitors, and detection metrics.
- Lead capacity planning, load testing, resilience engineering, and failure analysis for peak traffic and steady-state growth.
- Build incident-response pipelines integrating FireHydrant, Datadog, and Jira for alerting, incident creation, RCA tracking, and post-mortem actions.
- Develop reusable AI agents and operational tooling for incident triage, RCA drafting, report generation, and monitoring or runbook gap detection.
- Investigate complex failures across frontend, API, service mesh, and database layers, then convert findings into runbooks, tooling, and team practices.
- Maintain tooling and metrics for bi-weekly VP-level Operational Excellence reviews and monthly cross-engineering reviews.
- Document systems, onboard teammates, and coach engineers on SLOs, blameless post-mortems, and on-call practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Software, SRE, Platform, or Infrastructure Engineer owning reliability outcomes for customer-facing production systems.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to read application code across the stack and build reliability tooling.
- Hands-on experience with observability, SLO engineering, golden signals, burn-rate alerting, journey-level monitoring, and actionable alerting.
- Production experience with AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, Terraform, and PostgreSQL, including RDS/Aurora.
- Experience with end-to-end incident management, including on-call design, escalation policies, incident command, blameless post-mortems, and action-item follow-through using tools such as FireHydrant or PagerDuty.
- Daily practical experience using AI coding and analysis tools such as Claude or Cursor, with judgment about verification and reliability of outputs.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining risk, tradeoffs, and post-incident learnings to engineers and leadership.
- Preferred experience building AI agents or LLM-backed operational automation with MCP or tool-calling integrations.
- Preferred load-testing and performance-engineering experience at meaningful scale, including k6 or similar tools.
- Preferred familiarity with Istio service mesh observability and traffic-management features.
- Preferred experience in regulated or healthcare environments and with vendor or partner escalation frameworks and response SLAs.
