Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve BNZ’s enterprise quality engineering strategy, standards, practices, and quality controls.
  • Partner with delivery and platform teams to embed shift-left testing and quality practices into tooling, workflows, and delivery governance.
  • Coach engineers and quality practitioners through communities of practice, learning pathways, and capability development.
  • Use quality signals and delivery data to measure maturity, identify improvements, and connect engineering quality to risk and release confidence.
  • Guide responsible use of AI-enabled engineering tools for test design, automation, defect analysis, documentation, pattern identification, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish quality engineering capability expectations, career pathways, training alignment, and progression guidance across engineering roles.
  • Work across Technology to integrate quality expectations into standards, tooling, and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Strong technical credibility across modern quality engineering and test practices.
  • Experience defining or evolving quality standards in a complex or regulated environment.
  • Deep understanding of software development life cycles, shift-left testing, and automated quality controls.
  • Ability to influence and coach engineers and leaders without relying on formal authority.
  • Comfort using data and evidence to drive change and prioritisation.
  • A pragmatic approach that balances delivery speed, quality, risk, and assurance.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted engineering or quality tools to improve software delivery outcomes.
  • Sound judgement regarding responsible AI use, risk management, data protection, and governance.
