Base Salary
$126k - $244k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the infrastructure and core components supporting n8n and related AI workflow tools across environments, CI/CD, containers, clusters, storage, secrets, networking, and integrations.
- Design and enforce secure-by-design governance through hardened baselines, secret management, IAM and network boundaries, and CI/CD controls.
- Define SLOs, metrics, logging, alerting, and operational practices that improve reliability, reduce MTTR, and lower change-failure rates.
- Create reusable templates, reference pipelines, IaC modules, and guardrails for standardized and auditable AI workflows.
- Align the platform with Avalara’s Software Maturity Model, architecture review governance, security requirements, and audit needs.
- Use AI for incident triage, anomaly detection, capacity forecasting, change-risk assessment, IaC and pipeline delivery, runbooks, and intelligent workflow orchestration.
- Mentor engineers and citizen developers, document best practices, and raise DevOps, automation, platform, and AI maturity across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5–8+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering for SaaS or large-scale distributed systems, including direct production ownership.
- Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including VPC design, security groups, load balancers, and managed Kubernetes or equivalent container orchestration.
- Deep hands-on experience with Terraform or equivalent Infrastructure as Code for multi-environment infrastructure and platform services.
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines, including automated testing, security scanning, and artifact management for complex services or platforms.
- Solid understanding of Linux and/or Windows, DNS, TLS, routing, firewalls, and secure secret management.
- Hands-on experience with logging and monitoring platforms such as Sumo Logic, Splunk, Prometheus, or Grafana, including production SLOs and alerts.
- Experience running or supporting multi-tenant or shared internal platforms, workflow tools, orchestration tools, or integration platforms.
- Demonstrated day-to-day use of AI tools in engineering or operations with measurable improvements in speed, reliability, or quality.
- Ability to communicate trade-offs clearly, mentor others, and raise standards through documentation, governance, and operational practices.
