
Staff Software Engineer - Embedded Software Platform

- Own the target architecture, technical roadmap, and execution strategy for significant embedded software platform capabilities.
- Lead complex, multi-team technical initiatives from problem definition through adoption and operationalization.
- Modernize CI/CD, quality-gating, test-system, build-system, virtualization, release, and validation workflows.
- Create reusable engineering standards, automation, developer experiences, ownership models, and operational practices.
- Deliver or guide production-quality software, platform components, automation, integrations, and engineering analytics.
- Use operational data and platform instrumentation to improve reliability, quality, feedback time, release confidence, and developer productivity.
- Lead architecture reviews and cross-functional technical alignment with embedded software, validation, cloud, cybersecurity, quality, program, and supplier teams.
- Coach senior engineers and help develop technical leadership across the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Typically 15 or more years of experience developing, integrating, deploying, or validating software systems.
- Deep understanding of embedded and real-time software architecture and experience delivering safety-critical or mission-critical products.
- Demonstrated success leading complex technical initiatives across multiple teams or organizations.
- Production experience with engineering tools and proficiency in Python plus at least one additional software or engineering-tooling language.
- Experience in at least one specialization area: virtualization and CI infrastructure, continuous integration and quality gating, test-system modernization, or build-system modernization.
- Experience with relevant technologies including Linux, Git, containers, CI/CD, cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, test automation, artifact repositories, or data and API platforms.
- Preferred experience in automotive, aerospace, defense, industrial, regulated, real-time, or safety-critical environments.
- Preferred knowledge of functional safety, ISO 26262, cybersecurity engineering, ASPICE, MISRA, AUTOSAR, or related engineering practices.
- Preferred experience with virtual and hardware-based validation, platform products, reusable templates, developer self-service, engineering standards, or reliability objectives; an advanced technical degree is also preferred.
