
Distributed Systems Software Engineer - Public Cloud (Mid/Senior/Lead/Principal)

Responsibilities
- Deliver cloud infrastructure automation tools, frameworks, workflows, and validation platforms across public cloud platforms.
- Design, develop, debug, and operate resilient distributed systems running across thousands of compute nodes and multiple data centers.
- Develop Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform and build microservices using Kubernetes, Docker, or Mesos.
- Use and contribute to open-source technologies such as Spinnaker and Zookeeper.
- Build, ship, evaluate, and optimize secure, high-quality production software using AI development tools and advanced prompt engineering.
- Design systems in which AI agents integrate into human workflows and maintain shared system context containing designs, constraints, and standards.
- Own and operate critical services, resolve complex technical issues, and improve system availability, resilience, and performance.
- Balance live-site management, feature delivery, technical-debt retirement, and on-call responsibilities.
Requirements
- A related technical degree is required.
- At least 3 years of backend software development experience is required.
- Deep programming knowledge in Java, Go, Python, or Ruby is required.
- Experience owning and operating multiple instances of a critical service is required.
- A genuine AI-first engineering approach and experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Cursor are required.
- Advanced prompt engineering skills, including writing precise structured prompts and developing reliable system context, are required.
- Experience with critical infrastructure services such as monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications is required.
- Experience with Agile development methodology and Test Driven Development is required.
- Experience with distributed database systems and relational databases such as PostgreSQL is a plus.
