Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and debug production-quality embedded software, C++, Rust services, and Python tools.
  • Translate system and software requirements into designs, code, and test cases.
  • Develop unit, integration, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, test automation, and CI/CD tooling.
  • Integrate, bring up, and troubleshoot software and hardware on test benches and prototype vehicles.
  • Analyze test and vehicle data and communicate findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, electrical, mechanical, controls, and systems engineers.
  • Document work and share results with the team.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
  • Coursework, project, or internship experience in programming, including examples such as C/C++, Rust, Python, Java, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Strong fundamentals in software, embedded systems, or controls, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, or control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, eagerness to learn, teamwork, and ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.
  • Availability for the full 6-month program.
  • Some assignments may require travel to test locations or a valid driver’s license for vehicle testing.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience with embedded Linux, middleware, real-time embedded C, automotive communication protocols, diagnostics, device drivers, microcontroller peripherals, sensors, signal processing, HMI, software system integration, cloud software, Git, Linux, containers, automated testing, HIL or simulation tools, controls, vehicle dynamics, thermal systems, fleet data, robotics, IoT, or student engineering projects.

Benefits

  • Onsite work required four or more days per week in Palo Alto, California, or Long Beach, California.
  • Eligible candidates living more than 50 miles from a local office may receive a $5,000 pre-tax commute or relocation stipend.
  • Some assignments may involve travel to test locations.
