Responsibilities
- Own the health, uptime, triage, diagnosis, and resolution of deployed imaging systems across networking, calibration, upgrades, services, and sensor hardware.
- Run first- and second-line escalation support for issues from field personnel and customer-support channels.
- Provide remote troubleshooting guidance to non-technical operators and participate in scheduled after-hours and weekend on-call coverage.
- Build and maintain runbooks, diagnostics, and self-service tooling to reduce recurring support issues.
- Reproduce, document, and hand off genuine software defects to Mission Software Engineers.
- Feed field reliability findings into improved observability, safer upgrades, and more graceful system failure.
- Travel approximately 15% of the time for field support and deployment windows.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, field/systems engineering, or production support for deployed hardware/software systems, including ownership after deployment.
- Strong Linux fundamentals and experience troubleshooting networking issues involving IP, routing, VPNs, and constrained or field environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across networking, services, and hardware interactions with incomplete system visibility.
- Comfort owning a structured on-call rotation with scheduled after-hours and weekend coverage.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including remote troubleshooting with non-technical operators and incident documentation.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance.
- Preferred experience supporting fielded or deployed systems rather than only development environments.
- Preferred experience with fielded hardware or sensor systems such as EO/IR or optical systems, including sensor calibration.
- Preferred diagnostic and automation scripting experience with Python, Bash, or similar tools.
- Preferred familiarity with Nix or NixOS, systemd service management, Linux observability practices, and PagerDuty or equivalent incident tooling.
