Base Salary
$245k - $335k/yr
Responsibilities
- Partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI components including foundation-model training, LLM inference, agents, multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
- Invent and apply foundation-model optimization techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, throughput, and hardware utilization.
- Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for foundational AI systems.
- Set enterprise-wide AI architecture direction and unify tooling, observability, and deployment standards.
- Own model routing, caching, and orchestration systems for hybrid and multi-model workloads.
- Embed transparency, reproducibility, fairness, and other responsible AI principles into system design.
- Lead internal education, mentorship, architecture councils, and AI guilds.
- Define AI architecture standards, metrics, evaluation frameworks, and research-to-production processes.
- Lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a master's degree in one of these fields plus at least 6 years of relevant experience.
- At least 8 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
- Experience designing AI systems with tradeoffs among cost, latency, throughput, and accuracy.
- Experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent private cloud.
- Experience architecting, developing, integrating, delivering, and supporting complex AI systems.
- Experience developing AI and ML technologies including LLM inference, similarity search, VectorDBs, guardrails, and memory.
- Experience optimizing training and inference software and right-sizing models, instances, and hardware.
- Experience building agentic AI systems and workflows.
- Strong knowledge of AI research and ability to apply novel techniques in production.
- Demonstrated ability to define enterprise AI architecture standards, data pipeline governance, observability, and evaluation frameworks.
- Experience leading federated or multi-cloud AI strategies and guiding research-to-production promotion.
- Ability to define north-star metrics balancing business value, innovation velocity, cost, and ethical responsibility.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex AI concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor multiple engineering teams and influence stakeholders up to the VP level.
