Base Salary
$230k - $385k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship full-stack product experiences for OpenAI’s education offerings.
- Own projects end to end, from ideation and technical design through implementation, launch, and iteration.
- Work with learning scientists and researchers to translate learning goals and evidence into product decisions.
- Collaborate with design, data, and other cross-functional partners to create thoughtful, high-quality user experiences.
- Help define engineering patterns, systems, and technical direction for a growing education pod.
- Contribute to products serving both consumer and B2B education experiences over time.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional engineering experience, excluding internships, in relevant roles at technology and product-driven companies.
- Proficiency with TypeScript, React, and other web technologies.
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, Go, Rust, or TypeScript, along with distributed systems concepts.
- Some experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
- Care about reliability, safety, and performance in production environments.
- Interest in AI/ML; direct experience is not required.
- Ability to navigate loosely defined work and manage competing priorities or deadlines in fast-growing, product-driven companies.
- Experience building interactive educational tools or learning products is helpful, or demonstrated enthusiasm for applying engineering skills in education.
- Former founder or early startup engineer who has built a product from scratch is a plus.
- Strong interest in improving access to education and expanding opportunities for learners worldwide.
