Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Build production-ready serverless applications using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway.
- Develop event-driven workflows using Amazon EventBridge, Amazon SQS, Amazon SNS, and AWS Step Functions.
- Implement retry, idempotency, error-handling, asynchronous messaging, REST API, webhook, and third-party integration patterns.
- Translate architectural designs into scalable production code and participate in technical design discussions and code reviews.
- Write unit, integration, and contract tests and uphold clean-code, strict-typing, and maintainability standards.
- Define infrastructure alongside application code and build and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines.
- Apply secure coding, least-privilege IAM, input validation, secrets management, and OAuth 2.0/OIDC practices.
- Implement logging, monitoring, metrics, and distributed tracing; troubleshoot incidents and optimize AWS Lambda performance and cost.
- Collaborate with product owners, QA engineers, DevOps engineers, architects, and business stakeholders.
- Mentor developers, share technical knowledge, and own features from development and deployment through production support.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience.
- At least 3 years of experience building production services on AWS.
- Proven hands-on experience delivering serverless applications and supporting production distributed, event-driven systems.
- Advanced TypeScript and strong Node.js experience, including strict typing, generics, asynchronous programming, performance optimization, and AWS Lambda packaging.
- Experience with the AWS SDK for JavaScript v3 and Powertools for AWS Lambda using TypeScript or a similar framework.
- Experience with AWS Lambda handlers, cold starts, concurrency, Lambda layers, esbuild bundling, Amazon API Gateway, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, and Step Functions.
- Strong understanding of serverless, event-driven, microservices, RESTful API, OpenAPI, webhook, and synchronous/asynchronous integration patterns.
- Experience with Amazon DynamoDB and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience with AWS CDK, AWS SAM, AWS CloudFormation, or Terraform, plus CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Experience with Jest or Vitest, AWS service mocking, local testing, and unit, integration, and contract testing.
- Experience with IAM, least-privilege policies, Amazon Cognito or an equivalent identity solution, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, AWS Secrets Manager, or AWS Systems Manager Parameter Store.
- Experience with Amazon CloudWatch and AWS X-Ray, plus at least one of Grafana, Prometheus, or Kibana.
- Experience working in cross-functional Agile/Scrum teams and participating in Git-based development workflows.
