Responsibilities
- Develop backend Command & Control software connecting Quindar’s platform to satellite vehicles.
- Implement reliable machine-to-machine communications involving binary protocols, command and telemetry definitions, data transport, serialization, encoding, stateful communication, and hardware interfaces.
- Onboard new satellite vehicles by translating spacecraft-specific interfaces and protocols into maintainable platform integrations.
- Develop abstractions, tooling, and architecture that support many spacecraft without requiring every integration to be built from scratch.
- Design systems that scale across diverse vehicles, protocols, missions, and operational constraints.
- Troubleshoot and drive technically ambiguous integration problems through completion while communicating complex technical information to internal and customer-facing audiences.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least three years of professional experience developing software for satellite C2 or comparable complex machine-to-machine and hardware/software systems.
- Proficiency in backend or systems programming languages such as Python and Rust.
- Experience communicating with, controlling, or processing data from remote machines, embedded systems, hardware assets, or other complex systems.
- Experience implementing or integrating machine-to-machine communication protocols and concepts including binary serialization, framing, packetization, transport, routing, sequencing, acknowledgements, error handling, and state management.
- Experience taking a protocol, interface specification, or hardware integration from documentation through implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and production operation.
- Experience with real-time or embedded software, distributed systems, networking, telecommunications, robotics, IoT, industrial systems, or hardware/software integration.
- Understanding of reliable communication with remote or intermittently connected systems, including bandwidth constraints, latency, retries, fault handling, and observability.
- Experience with relational and/or time-series databases and familiarity with Git and GitHub or similar version-control workflows.
- Preferred familiarity with CCSDS, CSP, CFDP, IP, XTCE, and MIB or comparable communication standards, schemas, interface definitions, and data models.
- Experience integrating AES-256 GCM, AES-256 CFB, AES-256 ECB, NSA Type 1 PEGASUS, or NSA Type 1 CARIBOU encryption algorithms is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes platforms, DevSecOps practices, and open-source software is preferred or a plus.
- Strong technical analysis, systems thinking, troubleshooting, adaptability, ownership, maintainability focus, cross-functional communication, and willingness to learn the aerospace domain.
Benefits
- Hybrid work arrangement with two days per week in the Arvada, Colorado, Washington, D.C., or Seattle, Washington office, with significant remote work.
