Base Salary
$182k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable distributed services using Python and FastAPI.
- Own backend systems and proactively improve performance, reliability, monitoring, and observability.
- Contribute to architectural vision, technical roadmaps, code reviews, and technical design documents.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, data teams, and engineers to deliver patient, provider, and insurance experiences.
- Participate in on-call rotations and ensure production system reliability.
- Define, implement, experiment on, and iterate backend features based on real-world engagement and adoption.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience.
- Experience architecting, designing, and building scalable web applications and distributed systems.
- Proficiency with Python, relational databases, and frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
- Hands-on experience with metrics instrumentation, load testing, Datadog, and data-driven performance tuning.
- Track record of scaling complex, data-intensive backend systems while maintaining high performance and availability.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, data consistency, communication patterns, and service boundaries.
- Strong ownership of technical roadmaps and ability to refine ambiguous problems.
- Demonstrated collaboration with engineers and cross-functional partners.
- Experience in telehealth or other highly regulated industries is a bonus.
- Experience decoupling monolithic applications into distributed asynchronous services is a bonus.
