Base Salary
$238k - $302k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of deep learning and machine learning models that automate and improve high-volume human-led triage workflows.
- Design and build generative AI, LLM, and VLM solutions for self-driving behavior analysis and anomaly detection.
- Develop reinforcement-learning systems based on human-preference data collection and evaluation.
- Build user-feedback analysis tools for multi-label classification, sentiment assessment, comment summarization, root-cause analysis, and trend analysis.
- Oversee production deployment and optimization of machine learning models evaluating Waymo’s autonomous vehicle fleet.
- Drive technical direction and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Collaborate with PMs and TPMs to define product requirements and align technical work with business objectives.
- Partner with Prediction, Planning, Research, technical leads, and senior leadership on strategic efforts.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, robotics, machine learning, or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7 years of hands-on experience with machine learning projects.
- Strong coding experience in C++ and/or Python.
- Experience with at least one of foundational models, vision-language models, or deep learning.
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face Transformers, deep learning models, and machine learning deployment at scale.
- Preferred: master’s or Ph.D. in computer science or a related quantitative field with a machine learning specialization.
- Preferred: at least 10 years of hands-on machine learning experience.
- Preferred: deep learning experience with Transformers and generative AI LLM/VLM systems.
- Preferred: experience building applied machine learning tools, including MLOps, evaluation and validation techniques, and model performance optimization.
- Preferred: large-scale data processing and analytical skills.
