Responsibilities

  • Define software architectures, technical strategies, design reviews, and architectural decisions for complex embedded systems.
  • Develop, integrate, debug, and verify embedded software, including device drivers and middleware components.
  • Lead small software development teams while remaining a hands-on individual contributor.
  • Translate program objectives into software development plans, assign technical work, track milestones, and manage execution risks.
  • Coordinate software activities across systems, hardware, FPGA, verification, manufacturing, and program teams.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and provide technical status, risks, recovery plans, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Conduct code reviews, maintain software quality standards, and support customer demonstrations, field activities, integration events, and technical reviews.
  • Support staffing, workload balancing, technical mentoring, proposal activities, technical planning, and technology roadmaps.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum eight years of embedded software development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in C and C++, plus strong Python development experience.
  • Extensive experience with Bare-Metal, FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux, and AMD/Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC and/or MicroBlaze platforms.
  • Strong understanding of embedded software architecture, real-time systems, and hardware/software co-design.
  • Experience developing complex device drivers and middleware through the full product lifecycle.
  • Experience leading software development efforts, small engineering teams, project schedules, technical assignments, and execution tracking.
  • Experience presenting technical status, risks, and recommendations to management and stakeholders.
  • Preferred experience includes defense, aerospace, medical, or safety-critical products; EO/IR imaging, video processing, sensor integration, high-speed interfaces, Ethernet, TCP/IP, lwIP, networking protocols, distributed embedded systems, requirements-based development, formal verification, and multidisciplinary technical leadership.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, along with an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable time after employment begins.
