Responsibilities
- Resolve complex customer problems involving Ubuntu, the kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open-source software.
- Troubleshoot issues and drive them to resolution through workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes.
- Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and collaborate with upstream projects for inclusion.
- Review code produced by other engineers.
- Participate in upstream communities and maintain close relationships with Field, Support, and product engineering teams.
- Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation.
- Communicate clearly, technically, and concisely while prioritizing work and managing time effectively.
Requirements
- Exceptional academic track record and a background in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
- Experience with Linux and open-source software.
- Experience with at least one of Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
- Ability and motivation to learn unfamiliar technologies and investigate difficult technical issues.
- Interest in or willingness to learn Ubuntu Linux, kernel or userspace, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Debian packaging, and distributed systems.
- Strong communication, curiosity, flexibility, accountability, and self-motivation.
- Willingness to travel up to four times a year for internal events.
