Responsibilities
- Lead identification and prioritization of AI and advanced-technology use cases for cybersecurity operations, monitoring, reporting, and workflow efficiency.
- Define and implement AI governance practices covering intake, approval, model and data controls, documentation, performance, and risk monitoring.
- Design and oversee AI/ML integration into security operations, documentation management, metrics automation, and other agency workflows.
- Coordinate secure architecture, cybersecurity controls, privacy protections, risk assessments, and compliance activities for AI solutions.
- Develop AI policies, procedures, technical guidance, testing practices, and data usage rules.
- Produce architecture, data-flow, testing, approval, change-control, operational runbook, and audit-readiness documentation.
- Assess AI-related threats such as prompt injection, data leakage, and model misuse, and define mitigations, monitoring, and response playbooks.
- Collaborate with systems engineering and enterprise architecture teams on modernization, interoperability, scalability, and compliance.
- Establish success metrics for AI pilots and deployments and provide recurring updates to the CIO/PMO and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, AI, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in AI/ML integration and governance.
- Experience with Azure AI, OpenAI, and/or TensorFlow.
- Knowledge of AI risk frameworks such as the NIST AI RMF.
- Ability to translate business and mission needs into AI requirements, pilot plans, and operational handoffs.
- Strong communication skills for explaining AI concepts, risks, and tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience implementing responsible AI controls in regulated environments, including data minimization, access control, human-in-the-loop review, and monitoring.
- Preferred familiarity with NIST cybersecurity concepts, federal compliance environments, authorization documentation, audit evidence, and change control.
- Preferred experience building RAG solutions and knowledge-management workflows using approved enterprise repositories.
- Preferred experience integrating AI with security operations tools, ticketing and workflow platforms, or reporting pipelines.
- Ability to prototype quickly while producing documentation and controls required for operational deployment.
- Must be able to perform office activities, keyboarding, remain seated for periods of time, occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds, and work more than 40 hours when required.
- Frequent local travel and occasional statewide or out-of-state travel may be required.
