Base Salary
$160k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Architect and maintain auto-scaling AWS infrastructure supporting more than 1.5 billion monthly page views.
- Improve platform uptime, respond to incidents, and resolve performance degradation and outages.
- Scale, maintain, and troubleshoot sharded MySQL databases and Vespa.ai search infrastructure.
- Build zero-downtime deployment pipelines using Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, and CodeBuild.
- Automate resource provisioning and configuration management with documentation and automated testing.
- Enforce security protocols, mitigate DDoS attacks, and perform routine patch management.
- Monitor and optimize AWS resource utilization and cloud infrastructure spending.
- Participate in a three-engineer 24/7 on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of experience in a DevOps, platform engineering, or site reliability engineering role working with systems at scale.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills across frontend and backend systems, including during production degradation or outages.
- Exceptional command-line Linux skills.
- In-depth knowledge of AWS, Terraform infrastructure as code, and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Experience building Docker images and composing Helm charts.
- Proficiency in Python and Bash for scripting and automation.
- Experience with sharded MySQL databases.
- Experience with security compliance standards for large-scale web infrastructure and DDoS mitigation strategies.
- Ability to proactively identify and prevent reliability and performance issues.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with GitOps tools and methodologies is preferred.
