Base Salary
$105k - $140k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver backend services, APIs, workers, and shared libraries for cloud-platform capabilities.
- Build orchestration and job-execution systems supporting submission, tracking, status propagation, retries, cancellation, results, and operational visibility.
- Develop asynchronous, event-driven, and distributed execution flows using queues, messaging, background workers, durable state, and service-to-service communication.
- Build and maintain cloud-native runtime infrastructure using containers, Kubernetes, deployment automation, and related platform tooling.
- Integrate services with persistence layers, event streams, APIs, and internal service contracts.
- Improve production reliability through metrics, tracing, structured logging, health checks, dashboards, alerting, runbooks, and incident follow-up.
- Write tests, participate in code reviews, collaborate with partner teams, and use AI and modern development tools to improve productivity and code quality.
- Own production features over time, contribute design input and estimates, and help onboard and mentor newer engineers.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production software, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience building backend services, APIs, or background workers, preferably with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Ability to own feature-level work, design small-to-medium systems or APIs, and make independent decisions within feature scope.
- Understanding of asynchronous and distributed-processing concepts including dependencies, state transitions, retries, cancellation, idempotency, concurrency, and timeouts.
- Experience with durable persistence, service integrations, deployment practices, logs, metrics, and operational tools.
- Experience writing unit and integration tests and applying quality, reliability, and security practices.
- Clear communication, estimation, collaboration, and ownership skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Preferred familiarity with workflow orchestration, task graphs, job lifecycles, multi-environment workloads, asynchronous processing, and operational troubleshooting tools.
