Base Salary
$129k - $202k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable firmware build systems for SSD products across multiple architectures.
- Own firmware release pipelines from code freeze through binary signing, packaging, versioning, and delivery.
- Define release branching strategies, gating criteria, go/no-go criteria, and repository governance policies.
- Administer Git repositories and execute complex merges, rebases, conflict resolution, and repository optimization.
- Maintain Docker-based, reproducible, hermetic build environments and manage Dockerfiles, Compose configurations, registries, and image lifecycles.
- Upgrade and validate compilers, linkers, debuggers, emulators, and other toolchain components within containerized environments.
- Integrate containerized builds with CI/CD infrastructure in collaboration with IT and platform teams.
- Develop scripts, utilities, and automation for firmware engineers using Python, Bash, CMake, and Make.
- Identify developer-toolchain bottlenecks, reduce cycle time and toil, and lead continuous-improvement activities.
- Maintain documentation for build systems, repository workflows, and release procedures and facilitate retrospectives and blameless post-mortems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 7+ years of combined experience in embedded software or firmware development using C/C++, build-system engineering, Git-based source-control administration, and Docker containerization.
- Deep hands-on expertise with Git internals, merge strategies, conflict resolution, history rewriting, and repository performance optimization.
- Strong Docker and container ecosystem skills, including Dockerfile authoring, layer optimization, multi-stage builds, and registry management.
- Experience with build tools such as CMake, Make, Ninja, or Bazel.
- Ability to collaborate across firmware, hardware, ASIC, IT, and project teams and communicate technical information clearly.
- Preferred: firmware or embedded-software experience in the storage industry and familiarity with NVMe, PCIe, SATA, or SAS.
- Preferred: experience with hardware-in-the-loop or simulation-based testing in automated pipelines.
- Preferred: knowledge of binary signing, secure boot, trusted execution, artifact management, DevSecOps tooling, SBOM generation, Jira, Confluence, Python, and Bash.
