Base Salary
$190k - $200k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end lifecycle of complex systems and features from design through long-term production operation.
- Decompose ambiguous customer and business problems into shippable scope, make defensible technical decisions, and deliver code.
- Design and maintain data models, schemas, migrations, and API-to-database contracts that scale with the business.
- Operate and monitor production systems, understand SLAs, diagnose root causes, and anticipate operational risks.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Analytics, Lifecycle Communications, and other teams to solve problems collaboratively.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and incident retrospectives.
- Improve engineering processes, tools, and on-call practices.
- Build and evaluate solutions using TypeScript, GraphQL, Temporal, Postgres, and AWS.
- Use AI tools appropriately while retaining the ability to explain, debug, and maintain shipped work.
Requirements
- 6–8+ years of software engineering experience.
- Strong full stack engineering experience across frontend and backend systems.
- Significant experience building and operating production systems where defects can affect revenue or customer trust.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including documenting technical decisions, tradeoffs, and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, prioritization, ownership, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and proactively identify solutions.
- Pragmatic judgment about when to use AI and other new tools.
- Experience with the listed technology stack is a plus.
- Interest in or enthusiasm for dogs.
