Base Salary
$347k - $385k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and debug system-level components and services across kernel and user space.
- Configure and maintain OS platform services, including initialization, service management, networking, security policies, and related tooling.
- Build and operate system image and update pipelines with reliability, reproducibility, and rollback safety.
- Profile and trace system performance and optimize CPU, memory, I/O, and power usage.
- Own platform observability and reliability through logging, crash capture, watchdogs, and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define interfaces and deliver end-to-end features.
- Establish code review, reproducible build, release management, and other engineering practices.
- Partner with external suppliers to support builds and deployments.
Requirements
- Experience shipping production systems software on modern operating systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and a scripting language.
- Understanding of operating-system internals, including concurrency, memory management, filesystems, networking, and power management.
- Strong systems debugging skills across kernel and user-space boundaries using debuggers, tracers, profilers, and logs.
- Experience configuring platform services and interfaces and translating requirements into stable, documented APIs.
- Fluency in user-space foundations such as service management, inter-process communication, networking, packaging, and automation.
- Experience building platform images and designing reliable, secure update mechanisms.
- Preferred: exposure to secure boot, sandboxing, mandatory access controls, and attestation.
- Preferred: experience with graphics/media, hardware acceleration, high-throughput data paths, connectivity stacks, network configuration, observability, diagnostics, or resource-constrained environments.
- Preferred: experience with open-source platforms or contributions to systems projects.
