Responsibilities
- Lead architecture, design, integration, and deployment of Cisco 4G/5G SA and NSA mobile packet core and Converged Packet Core solutions.
- Own high-level architecture, low-level parameters, end-to-end call flows, session management, policy control, charging, subscriber data management, network slicing, and performance optimization.
- Architect high-throughput 5G User Plane Functions and Service-Based Architecture control planes across Kubernetes, OpenStack, and bare-metal Telco Cloud environments.
- Direct project delivery activities including lab staging, proof-of-concept benchmarking, migration strategies, operational runbooks, cutover governance, and real-time risk decisions.
- Advise telecommunications carrier stakeholders and Cisco account, customer success, and specialist solution engineering teams on multi-year technology roadmaps.
- Mentor senior consulting engineers, maintain delivery quality, and collaborate with global development and technical assistance teams to resolve software and protocol issues.
Requirements
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in service provider mobile packet core architecture, engineering design, or delivery across 4G LTE EPC and 5G NSA/SA Core.
- Deep expertise in 3GPP mobile core protocols and interfaces including 5G SBA, HTTP/2, REST APIs, JSON, PFCP, N4/Sx, GTP-C, GTP-U, Diameter, RADIUS, and BGP/MPLS routing.
- Experience architecting or deploying UPF, SMF, AMF, NRF, PCF, MME, SGW, PGW, and ePDG/N3IWF network functions.
- Hands-on experience with Telco Cloud and virtualization platforms including Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, KVM, SR-IOV, DPDK, and CNDP.
- Experience leading mission-critical network cutovers, major software migrations, and performance benchmarking for tier-1 telecommunications carriers.
- Native or business-level Japanese fluency and professional working proficiency in English.
- Preferred experience with Cisco Ultra Cloud Core, Cisco Cloud Native 5G Core, Cisco StarOS, Cisco ASR 5500, and Cisco UCS.
- Preferred knowledge of 5G network slicing, Private 5G, MEC, and IMS/VoNR architecture.
- Preferred CCIE, CKA, or equivalent certification.
- Preferred scripting and automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or Linux shell tools for automated testing and CI/CD validation.
