Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services and modern user interfaces for dealer and consumer digital platforms.
- Own features end-to-end from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and production support.
- Build and maintain APIs supporting dealer workflows, pricing requests, and credit journeys.
- Contribute to architecture, performance, scalability, resiliency, observability, testing, and operational decisions.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions while improving system quality, maintainability, and engineering standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction across the team.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed and code quality.
- Build frontend components and connect user-interface interactions to backend APIs and workflows.
- Use logs, metrics, and service and event data structures to ensure data correctness and troubleshoot production issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience delivering production-grade systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architectures.
- Experience building APIs for dealer, pricing, and credit workflows.
- Practical AWS experience with ECS/Fargate, IAM, S3, and CloudWatch.
- Familiarity with event-driven messaging for rates, incentives, or decisions.
- Frontend development experience with React, Next.js, or Vue, preferably for digital automotive experiences.
- Hands-on experience using Splunk or Dynatrace for debugging and production support.
- Understanding of Toyota financial products, including retail, lease, incentives, and certified programs.
- Strong ownership and accountability for production systems.
- Preferred qualifications include automotive or financial services experience, distributed systems and high-availability platform exposure, GitHub Copilot or similar tools, platform standards or shared-services experience, reusable framework contributions, and mentorship or technical initiative leadership.
