Base Salary
$130k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own technical delivery of AI systems from prototype through deployment and ongoing production support.
- Design and build high-volume AI services and distributed processing pipelines with fault tolerance, retries, idempotency, backpressure, and partial-failure recovery.
- Lead the evolution of Python services and the Databricks-based platform for distributed processing, model serving, and ML and LLM integration.
- Establish standards for automated testing, model and prompt versioning, load testing, controlled rollouts, rollback, monitoring, and incident response.
- Build evaluation and monitoring capabilities for AI quality, service reliability, throughput, latency, and inference cost.
- Partner with Product and Responsible AI teams on release criteria, model validation, privacy, security, and governance requirements.
- Optimize workloads while balancing model quality, throughput, latency, capacity, and cost.
- Lead architecture and code reviews, mentor engineers, and coordinate complex technical initiatives across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 3 years owning ML or LLM systems in production and their operational support.
- Advanced Python proficiency for production services and data processing, along with strong SQL skills.
- Experience designing and operating high-throughput distributed systems, including failure recovery, multi-tenancy, and capacity planning.
- Hands-on experience deploying and operating LLM-based applications, including evaluation, output validation, observability, and cost management.
- Strong production engineering experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
- Demonstrated technical leadership through system design, implementation, code review, mentorship, and cross-stakeholder coordination.
- Preferred experience with Databricks or comparable cloud data and AI platforms, NLP, text analytics, unstructured data processing, inference infrastructure, model lifecycle management, retrieval-augmented generation, semantic search, LLM orchestration, speech-to-text, speaker diarization, conversational audio, AWS or Azure, and regulated environments.
