Responsibilities

  • Own business-critical applications or platform capabilities, including their technical roadmap, architecture, delivery quality, supportability, stability, resiliency, risk controls, and modernization.
  • Lead architecture and design decisions and align solutions with enterprise architecture, security, data, resiliency, and operational standards.
  • Develop core Java, full-stack, and integration solutions hands-on while remaining accountable for broader technical outcomes.
  • Translate business needs into scalable, secure, maintainable, and operationally sound solutions with stakeholders and global technology teams.
  • Drive engineering excellence through reusable components, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, performance improvements, secure coding, documentation, and production readiness.
  • Mentor engineers, review designs and code, and raise technical standards across local and global squads.
  • Identify modernization opportunities, reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and promote common engineering patterns.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues through root-cause analysis, durable remediation, and improved support and monitoring practices.
  • Create proofs of concept and evaluate frameworks, tools, and architecture patterns.
  • Apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly for analysis, coding, testing, refactoring, documentation, and knowledge discovery.
  • Participate across the SDLC, including analysis, architecture, design, coding, testing, implementation, deployment, production support, and Agile planning.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on professional experience with Core Java, Java RESTful APIs, Gradle or Maven, Spring, Spring Boot, IBM MQ Series, and related frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience architecting technical solutions and leading design decisions for enterprise-scale applications, platforms, or services.
  • Experience owning business-critical applications or platform capabilities, including technical strategy, production stability, risk management, and lifecycle modernization.
  • Experience influencing global teams, mentoring engineers, reviewing designs and code, and driving engineering standards across squads.
  • Experience partnering with business stakeholders, product owners, operations teams, and senior technology stakeholders.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar tools with attention to security and code quality.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams across time zones.
  • Experience with object-oriented design, microservices, distributed systems, integration patterns, resiliency, scalability, and fault tolerance.
  • Experience building user experiences in React or Angular and server-side applications using J2EE technologies.
  • Experience building public cloud or cloud-ready applications and scalable, secure, fault-tolerant microservices in Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2/OIDC and modern authentication and authorization patterns.
  • Proficiency with database technologies such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, or DB2, including data modeling, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Strong Linux experience and experience with Python, Perl, and Unix shell scripting such as Bash.
  • Experience with ETL; Informatica experience is a plus.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, automated testing, deployment automation, observability, and production readiness.
  • Experience developing unit tests in JUnit; Test Driven Development or Behavior Driven Development experience is a plus.
  • Competency with source control, preferably Git, and continuous integration tools such as Jenkins.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies, DevOps integration, and Agile tools such as JIRA.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, presentation, and independent execution skills.
