Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, integrate, deploy, and sustain machine-control software using C++ and C# in Visual Studio.
- Develop scalable automation software using object-oriented design, software design patterns, multithreading, and event-driven architectures.
- Integrate motion controllers, I/O systems, machine vision, robotics, sensors, barcode readers, and other industrial devices through Windows APIs, SDKs, and communication libraries.
- Drive system architecture, interface definitions, design reviews, and reusable patterns across product variants.
- Troubleshoot customer and field issues using logs, instrumentation, and on-equipment debugging, then deliver corrective and preventive actions.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Field Service to resolve production-line and installed-base issues, restore uptime, and improve reliability.
- Create simulation, automated system testing, regression, and verification strategies that detect failures earlier and prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate requirements, integration plans, and release readiness with customers and cross-functional engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and technical coaching.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including substantial automation, machine-control, or complex electro-mechanical systems work.
- Expert C/C++ skills with object-oriented design and design patterns, plus the ability to produce maintainable, testable, production-quality code.
- Strong experience developing Windows desktop applications with Visual Studio and familiarity with C# for tooling, diagnostics, or UI.
- Experience developing multithreaded and event-driven software and integrating external hardware through Windows APIs, SDKs, or communication libraries.
- Proficiency with version control and collaborative development workflows; Git is preferred.
- Demonstrated field-issue troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting designs and status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant experience in semiconductor equipment, test handlers, ATE integration, factory or industrial automation, robotics, medical devices, or high-volume electro-mechanical product engineering.
- Preferred experience includes state machines, machine sequencing, motion-control APIs, machine vision, MCU/SoC peripherals, serial buses, WPF, WinForms, Qt, Jenkins, automated test execution, SECS/GEM and SEMI standards, simulation, Python, Jira, machine safety, and ISO 13849.
