Responsibilities
- Define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and automation approaches with cross-functional Agile teams.
- Design, develop, review, and maintain automated tests, reusable test components, frameworks, utilities, service mocks, and data-management solutions.
- Build tests for Web UI, APIs, databases, integrations, mobile applications, and distributed services.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and provide fast, actionable quality feedback.
- Review requirements, architecture, designs, and code changes to improve testability and prevent defects.
- Develop functional, integration, contract, regression, and end-to-end tests based on product and technical risk.
- Investigate test failures and production defects using logs, queries, traces, and diagnostic data, and partner with engineers on resolution.
- Improve automation reliability, execution time, maintainability, observability, and coverage while reducing flaky tests and manual validation.
- Contribute to coding standards, peer reviews, technical documentation, quality tooling, and engineering practices.
- Use quality metrics and defect trends to identify systemic risks and recommend improvements.
- Mentor peers, champion engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement across teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 years of experience in software development, quality engineering, or test automation, including ownership of production-grade automated test solutions.
- Strong programming skills in JavaScript or TypeScript; Java, C#, or Python experience is preferred.
- Experience designing or extending test automation frameworks with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium WebDriver, Appium, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience testing REST APIs and distributed integrations, including authentication, data validation, error handling, and service contracts.
- Proficiency writing and troubleshooting SQL queries in Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience integrating automated tests with source control, build systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of software design, object-oriented or modular programming, data structures, debugging, code review, Agile delivery, software development lifecycle, test levels, risk-based testing, and defect prevention.
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical risks and influence quality decisions.
- Financial services, fintech, or consumer banking experience and familiarity with security, privacy, auditability, and regulatory expectations are additional qualifications.
- Experience with cloud platforms, containerized environments, service virtualization, messaging systems, microservice architectures, performance testing, accessibility testing, security testing, resilience testing, reliability testing, and observability tools is preferred.
- Ability to select appropriate code-based or low-code automation approaches and to mentor peers and drive continuous improvement.
