Base Salary
$254k - $299k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the architecture of a real-time, cross-asset risk and margin engine, including user and portfolio modeling, multifactor and borrow risk, and cross-portfolio evaluation.
- Design, build, deploy, and support low-latency, high-throughput risk systems processing billions of dollars in daily transactions.
- Own SLOs, observability, reliability, performance, and incident response for risk-critical systems.
- Set technical standards through hands-on coding and design reviews while reducing the most important technical debt.
- Mentor engineers and serve as the team’s risk-architecture anchor to reduce single-point-of-failure risk.
- Partner with Product, Trading, Financing/Credit Risk, Security, and Compliance to translate technical vision into a roadmap.
- Deliver projects end-to-end from scoping and architecture through implementation, monitoring, and iteration.
Requirements
- Extensive backend engineering experience with ownership of complex, production-grade distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience architecting cross-asset risk systems involving user or portfolio modeling and real-time cross-portfolio evaluation at scale.
- Deep proficiency in low-latency Java and high-throughput messaging such as Aeron, SBE, or similar technologies.
- Experience designing event-driven, highly available systems.
- Experience with multifactor and borrow risk, margin, or clearing in a regulated or financial environment where correctness, auditability, and low latency are critical.
- Experience making engineering trade-offs based on end-user quality and delivering shipped products.
- Experience using generative AI responsibly with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
