Responsibilities
- Extract loosely coupled Node.js/TypeScript microservices from the PHP monolith.
- Maintain and extend central shared services used by game teams and stakeholders such as game design and monetization.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve high-quality software.
- Define SLOs and implement metrics, tracing, and logging while participating in on-call and incident reviews.
- Improve platform and live-game stability, performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Collaborate with game designers, product leads, producers, and other teams to implement new features.
- Use AI tools and technologies to improve development efficiency, code quality, debugging, and technical research.
- Contribute to technical decisions and initiatives influencing service and platform architecture.
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, and coding standards, and contribute to engineering hiring.
Requirements
- Proven experience developing Node.js and TypeScript applications with strong coding and debugging skills.
- Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript frameworks and tools such as Next.js, Nest.js, Express.js, and Jest.
- Deep experience with distributed systems, including queues or pub/sub, idempotency, cross-service data modeling, and eventual consistency.
- Experience developing and maintaining multi-server, high-load backend services and APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB or similar technologies.
- Experience with automated quality practices, including unit testing, integration testing, and test automation frameworks.
- Ability to integrate AI tools into development workflows for code generation, debugging, and technical research.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn languages such as PHP or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably GCP, networking, and distributed-systems debugging is a plus.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a proactive attitude toward learning new technologies.
- Enthusiasm for games, ideally strategy games, and familiarity with Scrum or Kanban is beneficial.
