Responsibilities
- Design and implement improvements across the AHV hypervisor, Linux kernel, and x86-KVM stack.
- Improve VM live migration speed and predictability, upgrade reliability, and hypervisor performance at scale.
- Research solutions, participate in design discussions, and support feature delivery with quantitative analysis.
- Write, maintain, debug, and deliver enterprise-quality software.
- Participate in open-source community development and contribute product improvements upstream.
- Mentor junior engineers and communicate technical ideas effectively to geographically distributed teams.
- Assist with occasional customer escalations involving rare outages.
- Collaborate with a geographically distributed hypervisor engineering team.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on experience building and shipping enterprise-grade software.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, or equivalent.
- Strong operating-system and systems fundamentals.
- Low-level coding and debugging experience with at least one hardware architecture, preferably x86.
- Ability to write and maintain enterprise-quality code.
- Knowledge of x86 virtualization and the KVM stack is preferred.
- Linux kernel or virtualization-stack contributions are a plus.
- Some experience guiding others is preferred.
