Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components and optimize them for large-scale, high-throughput workloads.
- Define scalability, performance, durability, availability, and service-level objectives for owned components.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, partition-handling, load-shedding, throttling, and rate-limiting.
- Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, and alerting systems for proactive health management.
- Design complex validation scenarios such as fault injection and brownouts and implement replication and synchronization for correctness and availability.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, maintain compliance documentation, and protect data in multi-tenant environments.
- Develop infrastructure automation and change-management processes for patching, updating, and rolling back applications without customer maintenance windows.
- Coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, mentor junior engineers, participate in candidate interviews, and contribute to process improvements.
Requirements
- Experience designing distributed systems that address scalability, elasticity, fault tolerance, consistency, availability, and partition tolerance.
- Ability to optimize code and data paths for high-throughput, hyperscale workloads and large-scale data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Experience with performance and load testing, telemetry, dashboards, alerting, fault injection, brownouts, data replication, and synchronization.
- Ability to troubleshoot production systems, participate in incident response, and ensure operational readiness.
- Experience implementing security controls, encryption, access controls, security remediation, and cloud compliance documentation.
- Experience developing infrastructure-as-code or other automation for cloud infrastructure and managing application patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Strong technical collaboration, problem-solving, mentoring, communication, and continuous-learning capabilities.
