Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the high-performance ReadID SaaS backend using a security-first, high-availability approach.
- Manage, optimize, and deploy containerized workloads across multi-region Kubernetes environments on GCP and other cloud infrastructures.
- Design CI/CD pipelines supporting zero-downtime releases, canary and progressive deployments, and automated rollbacks.
- Write clean, modular, tested, and backward-compatible code with technical documentation.
- Participate in release testing and validation across mobile devices and international identity documents.
- Drive infrastructure as code, backend optimization, observability, and automated operational workflows.
- Collaborate with global engineering teams and enterprise customers in an agile environment.
- Participate in periodic 24/7 on-call shifts for incident management and platform reliability.
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of professional experience in server-side Java engineering.
- Strong Java 17+, Jakarta EE/Java EE, Spring, and Spring Boot skills.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS, Kubernetes/GKE, Docker, and CI/CD automation tools.
- In-depth knowledge of API architecture, JSON, XML, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Strong understanding of application security, identity and cryptography standards, and OWASP guidelines.
- Ability to own complex architectural challenges from design and prototyping through production rollout.
- Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Located within commuting distance of Enschede or willing to relocate, and comfortable working from the office at least two days per week.
- Preferred experience with ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Cloud Monitoring, Terraform, and ArgoCD.
- Basic knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Angular is preferred.
- Relevant Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, or CKA certification is preferred.
