Base Salary
$173k - $286k/yr
Responsibilities
- Audit and fix accessibility issues in Slack Kit Compose components and maintain snapshot and automated accessibility testing.
- Diagnose TalkBack and Android framework issues and create shared utilities for other teams.
- Own Android accessibility test suites and infrastructure, including custom tooling and third-party integrations.
- Advise feature teams on labeling, focus order, state announcements, and audible feedback for interactive actions.
- Lead VPAT compliance efforts, including ticket triage, issue grouping, and documentation of Slack’s compliance posture.
- Plan accessibility testing for major features and coordinate regression testing with QA vendors.
- Coordinate Android accessibility planning with iOS, design systems, and feature teams.
- Mentor Android engineers, conduct onboarding sessions, and share accessibility knowledge through documentation, newsletters, and talks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Android engineering experience in a team environment, including Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Hands-on expertise with Android accessibility APIs and TalkBack behavior.
- Experience building or maintaining accessibility testing infrastructure.
- Familiarity with accessibility compliance frameworks such as WCAG and VPAT, with experience driving compliance work end-to-end.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Preferred: experience with design systems or component libraries and accessibility standards.
- Preferred: familiarity with third-party accessibility auditing tools or custom static-analysis and scanning tools.
- Preferred: public speaking or writing experience on accessibility topics.
