Base Salary

$130k - $208k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, development, optimization, and validation of real-time DSP and machine learning solutions for microphone array products.
  • Plan projects by defining scope, estimating effort, identifying resources, and driving execution toward milestones.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues involving DSP, audio performance, embedded implementation, and system integration.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance through design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Collaborate with embedded software, hardware, acoustics, systems, test, product management, and user experience teams.
  • Implement and integrate low-latency signal-processing solutions into complex processing chains and embedded platforms.
  • Define signal-processing requirements, performance metrics, architectural options, and implementation strategies.
  • Evaluate DSP and ML/AI outcomes, conduct listening tests, and validate algorithm and system performance.
  • Identify customer use cases, optimize platform solutions, contribute to intellectual property, and promote innovation.
  • Follow software engineering practices and maintain documentation for system and algorithm design, implementation, and testing.
  • Track advances in DSP, audio processing, embedded systems, and machine learning and recommend applicable technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with at least 8 years of professional experience; alternatively, 6 years with a master’s degree or 3 years with a PhD.
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of advanced DSP theory and experience designing, implementing, testing, and optimizing real-time audio signal-processing algorithms.
  • Strong C++ programming skills, including object-oriented design and scalable, maintainable code development.
  • Experience prototyping algorithms with Python or MATLAB and deploying DSP algorithms on embedded platforms.
  • Strong understanding of real-time embedded constraints including latency, memory, CPU utilization, and processing deadlines.
  • Preferred experience with audio or speech DSP, microphone arrays, beamforming, acoustic echo cancellation, dereverberation, noise suppression, automatic gain control, and speech enhancement.
  • Experience with conferencing audio, embedded Linux on multi-core ARM, multithreaded real-time applications, and machine learning model deployment for real-time audio.
  • Experience with version control, issue tracking, continuous integration, agile development, audio interfaces, network audio protocols, and audio-system validation.
  • Knowledge of machine learning or artificial intelligence algorithm implementation, integration, or creation, plus low-latency embedded-friendly development.
  • Experience in audio engineering, digital audio workstations, recording, or other audio production.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
