Base Salary
$274k - $292k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement algorithm components for Wing’s production delivery network.
- Analyze logistics and flight data to identify inefficiencies and translate findings into production algorithm improvements.
- Integrate optimization and machine learning techniques for demand forecasting, fleet positioning, and dispatching decisions.
- Develop scalable solutions that account for physical constraints and business value.
- Make architectural and methodological decisions for ambiguous operations research problems.
- Model systems and design discrete-event and high-fidelity physics simulations.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, hardware teams, and product managers.
- Mentor junior scientists and engineers in operations research, code quality, and algorithm design.
Requirements
- 12+ years of industry or postgraduate experience solving complex optimization problems using mathematical programming or metaheuristics.
- Ph.D. or master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or a closely related field.
- Strong coding ability in Python, C++, or Java, with knowledge of object-oriented programming, functional programming concepts, and core computer science algorithms.
- Track record of designing algorithms that operate efficiently in real-time production software systems.
- Experience in aviation, autonomous vehicles, ride-sharing, or last-mile logistics.
- Deep familiarity with commercial or open-source optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or SCIP.
- Experience with GCP or AWS and integrating solvers into scalable, distributed systems.
- Experience modeling systems for simulation and designing experiments.
