Responsibilities
- Own complex technical initiatives from architecture through implementation, production deployment, and ongoing evolution.
- Design and evolve reliable backend services, scalable APIs, data models, asynchronous workflows, and integrations.
- Work across frontend applications, backend services, data layers, and platform boundaries to deliver complete solutions.
- Set technical direction and make architecture decisions involving consistency, performance, reliability, security, scalability, and maintainability.
- Break down complex work, coordinate dependencies, unblock teammates, and maintain squad delivery momentum.
- Drive engineering excellence across testing, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, architecture, code quality, and technical debt management.
- Partner with Product, Design, QA, SRE, platform teams, and engineering groups to translate customer problems into reliable solutions.
- Mentor engineers through architecture discussions, design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Six or more years of software engineering experience with deep backend expertise and strong competency across the broader stack.
- Proven experience owning complex technical initiatives from architecture through production deployment and operation.
- Strong understanding of service architecture, APIs, distributed systems, cloud services, and maintainable production software.
- Strong experience designing and evolving data models, schemas, database access patterns, indexing, migrations, and data integrity.
- Experience building reliable background processing, messaging, asynchronous workflows, and event-driven systems.
- Ability to reason about failure modes, concurrency, retries, data consistency, performance, and production reliability.
- Ability to guide engineers, establish architecture patterns, and raise engineering standards.
- Comfort evolving APIs, service contracts, integrations, and frontend applications that depend on backend systems.
- Strong experience with automated testing, CI/CD, observability, monitoring, and technical debt management.
- Experience across multiple backend languages, frameworks, or runtime environments is a bonus.
- Experience with cloud-native or serverless systems, infrastructure as code, deployment strategies, production operations, security, tenancy, authentication, authorization, and frontend frameworks is beneficial.
